Do not treat a bank account number, e-wallet name or social-media message as proof that a resort booking is genuine. Before sending a deposit, connect four items in writing: the exact property and visit date, the complete quotation, the identity of the payment recipient, and the reservation record you will receive after payment. If one item cannot be independently confirmed, pause the transaction.
Begin with a complete quotation
A payment request should follow a quotation, not replace it. The quote should identify the visit date and time window, adult and child headcount, rooms or event spaces, included pool areas, food or corkage terms, add-on charges, deposit amount, balance deadline, cancellation or rescheduling rules, and the name of the party issuing it. A screenshot showing only a price and account number is not enough to compare with later promises.
Use the same written thread for corrections. If the date, headcount or room changes, request a revised total instead of calculating the difference yourself. This creates a clear record of what the organizer accepted and reduces the risk that two staff members are working from different versions.
Verify through a second trusted path
Contact details can be copied, spoofed or taken over. Verify the quotation through a separately obtained channel rather than replying only to the account that sent it. For example, compare the information with an established official page or documentation already known to the group, then ask that verified channel to confirm the quotation reference and payment-recipient name. This platform does not authenticate a resort booking channel and should not be used as payment authority.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas guidance tells consumers to verify sources and details before confirming payments, protect personal and financial information, and report suspicious transactions promptly to the bank or e-money issuer. The practical application is to slow down when a sender creates urgency, changes the account at the last minute or asks for an OTP, password, CVV or remote access.

Match the recipient before authorizing payment
Ask why the named recipient is authorized to collect the deposit, especially when the name differs from the business or quotation issuer. A difference does not automatically prove fraud, but it requires an explanation that can be confirmed through the trusted channel. Never split the deposit among several new accounts merely because a message says one account has reached a limit.
Read the confirmation screen before approving the transfer. Check the amount, recipient display name and payment service. Do not share the one-time password or send a screenshot that reveals balances, account numbers or security information. The organizer should keep the receipt privately and share only the booking reference and confirmed status with the wider group.
A worked family-booking example
A family organizer receives a ₱6,000 deposit request for a Saturday visit. The quotation lists two rooms and pool access, but the payment name is an individual not mentioned elsewhere. Ten minutes later, the sender says the account is unavailable and supplies a second e-wallet. The organizer does not send either payment. She uses a separately verified channel to quote the reference number and asks whether both recipient names are authorized.
The verified response confirms the first recipient but not the replacement account. The organizer requests a refreshed quotation that states the authorized recipient and receives confirmation of the reservation reference after payment. The delay is inconvenient, but materially smaller than the risk of sending money to an unverified replacement account.
Know what proof should follow
Before paying, ask what document or message will confirm the transaction and how quickly it should arrive. A useful confirmation repeats the property, date, stay window, spaces, amount received, balance, due date and cancellation terms. Compare it with the quotation immediately. Report a wrong date, missing room or changed balance while the correspondence is still recent.
If no confirmation arrives, do not send a second payment to “unlock” the first. Contact the financial institution through its official channel, preserve messages and transaction references, and follow its reporting process. Where criminal fraud may be involved, BSP materials direct victims toward appropriate law-enforcement agencies as well as the concerned financial institution.
Our judgment
The safest resort deposit is not the fastest transfer; it is the transaction whose commercial details and recipient can be reconstructed by someone who was not in the chat. Use the complete quotation guide first, then retain the final quote, verified recipient explanation, transaction receipt and reservation confirmation together. No checklist eliminates fraud, and a familiar logo or old photograph is not authentication.
